Awaiting further test results.Late Sunday evening, NSW Health released a public health alert regarding new locations that had been visited by a new case of COVID-19 [also see update]. This is a novel situation for NSW, as the person did not test positive during HQ, however tested positive shortly after release. Although the individual was asymptomatic, they sought testing at NSW Health's request, following the implementation of day 16 testing. Initially, NSW Health advised that [07/02]: Investigations to date suggest the infection was likely acquired overseas and there is no indication at this stage that there was transmission in the hotel quarantine setting. [source]Since then, NSW Health has advised [08/02]: NSW Health is undertaking an extensive investigation into the source of a new COVID-19 case, including the possibility of transmission within a hotel quarantine facility. Further information will be released as it becomes available.As of 10/02: Source of Infection - Gladys Berejiklian "That one person who was tested positive on day 17 of arriving in Australia is unlikely to have contracted it in quarantine.""So the best advice is that it's either an old infection or else the person obviously has had an unusually longer incubation period which can happen...""It is unlikely to have been acquired in quarantine, but it does show the risks that are posed and it does show the vigilance of our NSW Health team and making sure that we not only test people on days 2 and 12 but also follow them up post quarantine in certain circumstances to make sure that there aren't lingering lingering infectiousness in people who are leaving the quarantine system."Quick facts:
